Under the Equality Act 2010, companies with more than 250 employees were required to publish data on their gender pay gap. The first reports became due in April 2018.
A new professional network called Women In Law London (WILL) has been launched to address the challenges faced by women in the industry and to support junior to mid-level female lawyers in furthering their careers and promotion prospects.WILL identifies the stark disparity between the healthy numbers of women entering the profession compared with the consistently low percentage who go on to secure partnership, and will provide a forum for women to network, support one another and be part of an initiative which will seek to influence employers and push for real industry change.
Eight law firms have been named in The Times Top 50 Employers for Women list for 2016.
Addleshaw Goddard, CMS, Eversheds, Herbert Smith Freehills, Hogan Lovells, Linklaters, Pinsent Masons and Simmons & Simmons have all been named in the list, which has been published in partnership with Business in the Community.
